Go bring darkness back to the night

Decades ago, a group of monsters gathered to create Deviland Park, the most impressive amusement park ever. But after decades of living under the flashy lights, Darkula misses the feeling of running wild under the moonlight. Tonight, he decided to remove all the light bulbs in the park to remind others of the exquisite beauty of the Moon over a dark sky. Go Darkula! Let it be a good night!

Description

Darkula is a score-oriented single-screen game with the spirit of an arcade game from 1983.

Run around, jump and use ladders to collect all the light bulbs in each level. Chain shining light bulbs consecutively to earn a growing bonus. Be fast, don't miss the special object that appears in the center of the screen and be careful with the monsters and dangers around you.

Facts

The idea was born while looking at pictures of an abandoned amusement park.

It was influenced by classic arcade games like Mappy, Bomb Jack, Mouser, Arabian, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Monster Bash, Mr. Do's Castle, Fantasy, Ponpoko

Ladders in classic video games are frustrating because of how slow and vulnerable they make you. That's why I wanted Darkula to go up and down in a single full speed movement.

It was presented in a dedicated cabinet at the ArcadeCon 2019. It became part of the Arcade Vintage Museum collection and then other associations built their own cabinets.
